I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I was going to and I think it's because of how much fun Josh was having onscreen. Every time he got to purposely overact as a concerned dad I was cracking up. And I think it's proof that we need to get him back in a comedy immediately. (or a good rom com!)
Y'know, it is a nice runtime, in essence. But man, did they lose me once they left the concert. How hard would it have been to make that the whole movie? A two hour concert (or maybe 70 minutes)? I mean, plausible, right?
I'm not a gamer, but it felt like such a funny video game, like Hartnett walking into rooms in this stadium and searching for the ideal item he needs, only for it to be Right There, or just a Friendly Conversation Away. I really felt like he wants to avoid getting caught, and he wants his daughter to have a good time, but he's honestly having a good time avoiding detection?
Also, I HAVE to know more about Kid Cudi in this. I want to know everything.
Ok yes agree! It definitely slows down once they leave and you’re like “wait what we’re leaving?” But I didn’t mind it so much because we had literally heard 6 of her songs at that point. And also I feel like it was familiar pacing, I just can’t think of another movie to compare it to because it’s 7am. But it did feel familiar enough that I wasn’t mad about it.
How could I have forgotten Kid Cudi! I was so wrapped up in my Josh Hartnett obsession. THE WIG! The wig! Help that wig. 😭
Damn it. I never know what to expect from him. I'll hate myself for wasting time on a movie like "The Happening," and then I'll be blown away by something like "Split." Loved "Knock At The Cabin," loathed "Old."
Great review! Did you know that the idea for the film was inspired by a real life sting operation in the 1980s?
I did not!! I’m going to have to look that up ASAP.

Yes! He was having a blast. Def need a rom com next.

I'll try to watch this weekend and report back...
The man knows how to keep us on our toes - I'll give him that.
I'd love to hear what you think!
I swore I was done with M. Night after Old, but you've got me curious here.
I was kind of hoping I’d run into him on the street one day for a physical altercation because of Old. But that never happened.
Just an infuriating film. So much about it wound me right up.
Infuriating is the exact word.
